The
Senator's Gate provides many amenities for your enjoyment. Coming
back to your quarters at night is like coming home. Each room has
its own personality and amenities. The Morning Parlor, a gold and
brass room flecked with green, is a comfortable place to enjoy
that first cup of coffee or tea, the morning paper or map of the
historic district, and Savannah's own liquid gold sunshine. |
The Morning Parlor has overstuffed chairs, period
sitting chairs, an oversized salon couch, and an interesting
surface-carved Amish school desk. The lace and silk dressed windows,
rising eight feet above the antique heart-pine floors, complete
the room. Everywhere there are ferns, palms, and flowers to bring
life to the Persian carpets below.
|
The
Dining Room, adjacent to the Morning Parlor, is entered through
large etched-glass pocket doors, and boasts period wallpaper (from
the 1880's) depicting a tropical paradise in hues of blue and green.
The owners can tell you the story of when the wallpaper was added
to the room during a previous renovation.
Take a peek at the Kitchen as you leave for
your day or perhaps retire to one of the garden areas for some
relaxation. The onsite parking areas are masked by charming wooden
fences, that also divide the garden area into more private nooks.
The fountains provide a nice background for conversation, contemplation,
or just plain "lazying away the day." |
When
you return in the afternoon you will be served in the Afternoon
Parlor--a richly colored (rose brocade) room. Tea, sherry, and
complements are served promptly at 5:00pm. This petite snack is
designed to sharpen your appetites for dinner in one of Savannah's
excellent restaurants. The owners will be glad to offer suggestions
and make reservations --from barbecue to fine dining, seafood to
steak, diner to nouvelle cuisine. Savannah has lots of extraordinary
places to eat.
