“With an abnormally warm late September evening and a harried and stressed Dip, scrambling to say hello to all before dashing off to Dulles to catch his trans-Atlantic flight to merry ol’ England, our Tavern on the Lake event had a huge participation with most folks choosing to sit outside to enjoy the weather and the view.  We had a great turnout of core members, newbies and one or two folks who had disappeared for a while and then returned back to the fold.  Conversations abound about the economy, politics, and end-of-government contracting year challenges as well as my visit over the pond to take care of some family business as well as enjoy the week
.  
Our hosts did a tremendous job of giving us an area outside to hang out in as well as good appetizers and terrific (thanks Mark) bar service.  David Kamminga again planned his “meetup.com IT Tech” group to coincide meeting at the same time and so we had additional attendees that bolstered our numbers.  Fred Harrison from our NortonNet affiliate group was plugging his 2nd book for which he had an event at Border Books.  Please go buy because if you liked his first book “An Opaque War” you will surely enjoy his second!  Overall, people seemed relaxed, content and thoroughly enjoying a pleasant evening, way past when I left (late) at 7:15pm to catch my plane!”
